8.30 – 9pm
Mellow Memories, 30 minutes of mellow classics a selection of songs the DJ in the clubs throughout the 70s & 80s would have played just before he played the love songs.
9 – 10pm
This is where the show takes on a very different dimension for the final hour a quality selection of soul & motown hits, also included in this hour some rare soul from well known artist’s, plus Northern soul memories and the classic 12inch single in it’s entirety, the emphasise on today’s dance hits is more about the remix, back in the 70s & 80s it was about the extension of the record for the dance floor, which is why it became a great tool for the DJ to use, we select the songs from listener suggestions and play one in full each week.
Every Bank Holiday we present a special show sometimes focused on a particular Record label or Genre e.g. Motown – Philadelphia International Records – Salsoul Records – The Northern Soul Scene – 12” Extended Versions – Disco & Funk – Jazz Funk – Modern Soul – The Steppin’Out Top 50 – The Steppin’Out Juke Box
And our special guest conversations including Jeffrey Daniel – Steven Collazo – Billy Ocean – Junior Giscombe – Alexander O’Neal – Marlena Shaw – Candi Staton – Blondie – Russ Winstanley – Otis Williams – Martha Reeves – The Commodores -Kenny Thomas.
